Born in Honolulu, Hawaii on 20 June 1967 Nicole Mary Kidmangot her first acting part at age 15 with a supporting role in the TV series Five Mile Creek, Kidman followed this up with parts in Australian movies and TV series until in 1989 she starred in the film Dead Calm. Her career advanced with the movies Far and Away, Batman Forever, To Die For and the critically acclaimed Eyes Wide Shut. In 2002 Kidman starred in the popular film Moulin Rouge!, following this success Kidman was in The Hours for which she won the Academy Award for Best Actress becoming the first Australian actress to do so. Kidman success continued with Cold Mountain, The Stepford Wives and Bewitched.
