Born on October 10, 1979, in Washington, D.C, Mya Marie Harrison began her music career in 1997 when she signed on to Haqq Islam's University Records. The following year Harrison released her debut album Mýa, the album was a success, selling over two million copies in the U.S. in 2000 Harrison released her second album Fear of Flying, the album has since gone platinum and however Harrison’s most popular single came in 2001 with a collaborated remake of Lady Marmalade the single sold 5.5 million copies. Harrison made her movie debut in the film Chicago and has since been in Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, Cursed and Shall We Dance? In 2003 Harrions released her third album Moodring the album was certified gold.
