Born 7 August 1970 in Mossley, Lancashire Melanie Sykes began her career in an advertisement for Boddingtons beer and for Berlei Lingerie. Sykes began her TV career when she had a spot on The Big Breakfast and the reality TV show I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!. Sykes has also presented the shows Eastenders Revealed, Melanie Sykes' Southall stories, Today with Des and Mel, The Vault, Celebrities Under Pressure, Loose Women and the British Soap Awards. In 2006 Sykes co-wrote the book Blooming Beautiful: My Plan for Looking Great, Being Healthy and Surviving Hormonal Havoc, Throughout Pregnancy and as a New Mum, and is now the model for Head & Shoulders shampoo.
