Born on November 16, 1977 in New York City Maggie Ruth Gyllenhaal began her acting career in the 1992 film Waterland followed closely by the movies A Dangerous Woman, Homegrown, 40 Days and 40 Nights, Riding in Cars with Boys and Cecil B. DeMented. In 2001 Gyllenhaal acted alongside her brother in the popular movie Donnie Darko and in 2002 starred in her breakthrough film Secretary. Gyllenhaal has also modelled for Miu Miu, Reebok and Agent Provocateur.
