Born October 5, 1975, in Reading, England, Kate Elizabeth Winslet made her acting debut at age eleven in a TV commercial; Winslet followed this up with small parts in TV series. In 1994 Winslet was in the film Heavenly Creatures following with A Kid in King Arthur's Court, Winslet was then cast as Marianne Dashwood in Sense and Sensibility. In 1996 Winslet starred in Jude and Hamlet and followed in 1997 with her best known piece as Rose DeWitt Bukater in Titanic. Winslet was in two independent films Hideous Kinky and Holy Smoke, before doing the critically acclaimed Quills. Winslet went on to the movies Enigma, The Life of David Gale, Flushed Away and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
