Alanis Morissette

Born on June 1 1974, in Ottawa, Canada Alanis Nadine Morissette began her music career at a young age when she was on the TV show You Can't Do That on Television. Morissette signed onto MCA/Canada at age fourteen and released her self titled debut album in 1991. The album went platinum and was followed by Now Is the Time, Morissette’s next album Jagged Little Pill was a huge success, selling over 16 million copies.

Ayumi Hamasaki

Born on October 2, 1978, in Fukuoka, Japan, Ayumi Hamasaki began her music career in 1995 when she released her debut album Nothing from Nothing, the album wasn’t successful. In 1999 Hamasaki released her second album A Song for XX, which quickly topped the Japanese charts. In 1999 Hamasaki followed up with her third album Loveppears and between 2000 and 2006 followed with Duty, I am..., Rainbow, Memorial address, My Story, (miss)understood and Secret.

Brandy

Born on February 11, 1979 in McComb, Mississippi, Brandy Rayana Norwood began her music career when she was fourteen and signed on to Atlantic Records. The following year Norwood released her self-titled debut album and in 1998 followed with the album Never Say Never, the album was hugely successful going multi platinum. From 1996 till 2001 Norwrood starred in the TV series Moesha and in 1998 was in the hit movie I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. In 2002 Norwood released her third album Full Moon which was followed in 2004 by Afrodisiac and 2005 by The Best of Brandy.

LeAnn Rimes

Born on August 28, 1982 in Jackson, Mississippi Margaret LeAnn Rimes began her music career at age eleven when she released her first album Everybody's Sweetheart. Rimes followed in 1992 and 1994 with the albums From My Heart to Yours and All That. In 1995 Rimes signed with the record label Curb Records and the following year released her first studio album Blue the album was a huge success going 6 times platinum.

Mya

Born on October 10, 1979, in Washington, D.C, Mya Marie Harrison began her music career in 1997 when she signed on to Haqq Islam's University Records. The following year Harrison released her debut album Mýa, the album was a success, selling over two million copies in the U.S. in 2000 Harrison released her second album Fear of Flying, the album has since gone platinum and however Harrison’s most popular single came in 2001 with a collaborated remake of Lady Marmalade the single sold 5.5 million copies.

Joss Stone

Born on 11 April 1987 in Dover, Kent, Joss Stone began her music career at age fourteen when she won the BBC Television talent show Star for a Night. Soon after she signed on to S-Curve Records and began work on her debut album The Soul Sessions which was released in 2003. The album went on to triple platinum in Britain Stone’s second album Mind, Body & Soul, was released in 2004, it once again went triple platinum. In 2007 Stone released her third album Introducing Joss Stone,the album sold 118,000 copies in its first week.

Alecia Moore (Pink)

Born on September 8, 1979 in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, Alecia Beth Moore began her music career in 2000 when she released her first album Can't Take Me Home the album was a success selling over four million copied worldwide. Moore released her second album M!ssundaztood in 2001, the album was a huge success selling over twelve million copies worldwide Moore followed in 2003 with the album Try This, while not as successful as her previous albums Try This, still sold three million copies.

Born on September 27, 1984 in Belleville, Ontario Avril Lavigne Whibley began her music career in 2002 when she released her debut album, Let Go. The album debuted at number eight on the Billboard chart and has since sold over 16 million copies worldwide; Lavigne released her second album in 2004 Under My Skin it has since sold over 8 million copies. In 2007 Lavigne’s third album The Best Damn Thing, debuted at number one in the U.S. and has sold approximately five million copies.

Born on October 13, 1980 in Glen Cove, New York Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas began her music career when she released her debut album Ashanti, in 2002. The album was successful and has sold over 7 million copies worldwide. In 2003 Douglas released her second album Chapter II the album was as successful as the last on selling 3 million copies worldwide. In 2003 Douglas released the album Ashanti's Christmas and in 2004 the album Concrete Rose and in 2005 Douglas released the album Collectables by Ashanti.

Shania Twain

Born on August 28, 1965, in Windsor, Ontario, Shania Twain began her singing career at an early age however it wasn’t until 1993 that she released her debut album entitled Shania Twain. The album wasn’t particularly successful and in 1995 Twain released her second album The Woman in Me, the album was hugely successful selling over eighteen million copies. In 1997 Twain success continued with the album Come on Over which sold thirty-four million copies and became the best selling album by a female solo artist and the best-selling country album of all time.
